Beginner's Quilting (February 2026 Edition) with Norma Botterill

  • Moosomin Visual Arts Centre 701 Ellice Street Moosomin, SK, S0G 3N0 Canada (map)

By joining in this class, you will create a 63"x84" quilt top in one of the log cabin designs. You purchase your own material (and thread) so you get to choose your colours and patterns! (I know I'm down for this one!!) Through Norma’s vast quilting experience, you will also learn how to:

  • read a pattern

  • plan the layout of material and quilt pattern

  • use quilting tools

  • cut the material properly

  • sew a 1/4” straight seam in the assembly of your quilt top

This class is for adults only.

Sewing experience is an asset but is not an absolute must.

If you have your own sewing machine, bring it with you. This is not a requirement as there are at least 4 sewing machines available for use at the Visual Arts Centre BUT you are most familiar with your own machine, so why not use it?!

If you have access to any of the following sewing tools, please bring them with you (again, not a requirement as there will be some available for use at the class):

  • seam ripper

  • scissors for trimming the thread

  • straight pins

This class is Friday (February 20th) night (7 p.m. - 9 p.m.) and Saturday, February 21st (9 a.m. - 4 p.m. - or when you finish).

Space is limited to 8 participants.

Registration for this class closes midnight, Monday, February 15th.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Norma has been quilting for over 15 years but she's been sewing since she was 5 years old. She brings a wealth of experience to participants!
