Kids’ Hand-Built Clay Bee Watering Stations with Lynne Hafner

This class is now full!

Imagine a few of these mounted on dowelling and strategically placed in your garden to attract pollinators!

  • Open to kids aged 8 and 9 years of age

  • This is 1 of 2 classes . . . the first class is April 24th. This is where the building/creating happens. Your youngster will learn how to “glue” clay together using the score and slip method (not sure what that is . . . ask your young person after the class)!

  • The date of the second class will be determined . . . the clay needs to dry enough to be fired (baked) in the kiln. This is typically a two week process. During the second class, your young person will paint/glaze their bee watering station so it attracts those pollinators to your space.

  • After the second class, the creations will need to be fired one more time to make them more weather safe so you will contacted when it is time for your youngster to pick up their completed bee watering stations!

Limit of 5 participants!

Use the link to register your youth for this opportunity. Registration is not complete until payment is received. Please include in the “memo” portion of your e-transfer payment the name of the participant and the name of the class to avoid confusion.

Kids’ After School Art Program

Our after school programming is aimed at children aged 6 through 12. It will explore the elements of art (line, colour, texture, shape, form, value and space) and the principles of design (balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, repetition and rhythm, unity, harmony, variety and proportion) through the use of a variety of media. We will be painting, drawing/sketching, collaging, decoupaging, building/sculpting. There will be an element of clay work in each block; the clay medium (air-dry clay, paper clay, paper mâché, plaster of Paris, oven bake clay, baker’s clay, kiln-dry clay, etc.) may differ in each block, as may the focus of instruction. Our programming is organized into 2-month themed blocks to make it easier for busy families with artistic-minded children to participate!

Please reach out to Melissa at moosominvac@gmail.com if you have any questions!
